Representing the America East Conference, Bob Nolte comes to D1 National SAAC from Binghamton University. He is a recent graduate, with a Bachelor in Arts in History and was a member of the diving team for four seasons, spending his senior year serving as Diving Team Captain.

How did you become involved with SAAC?
At my first campus SAAC meeting, the advisors were taking nominations for officers and one of the senior swimmers nominated me for treasurer. I figured I would try it out and wound up loving it. I attended the America East Conference SAAC meetings and found that those too were awesome. It was a great opportunity to meet Student-Athletes from all over our conference.
I became the conference Vice-Chair in early 2009 and got an opportunity to serve on the conference Sportsmanship Committee. I was selected to National SAAC in September 2009.
What's one cool thing your campus SAAC does that makes you unique?
For my first three years, Binghamton SAAC was been a part of St. Jude Children’s Hospital "Up 'til Dawn" fund raising campaign. In my time working with and eventually Vice-Chairing the program, we raised over $100,000 for the children at St. Jude.
What is your favorite memory from National SAAC?
I have enjoyed all of my experiences with the National SAAC, but if I had to pick one, I would say my first meeting, being able to meet 30 other kids that enjoyed talking about legislation and college athletics (almost) as much as I do. They are also some of the coolest kids I’ve met in college.
Having attended the 2010 NCAA Convention, I believe that being present for the override vote on adding Women’s Sand Volleyball as an emerging sport as one of my most lasting memories. Being able to be in the room with the people making the decisions, having administrators listen to the SAAC opinion and being able to have played a little part in the creation of opportunities for future female Student-Athletes is a great honor.
What is the best thing about being a D1 Athlete?
Being able to say that I competed at the highest level in college. Also, being able to tell someone exactly what I accomplished at Binghamton University during my time as a Student-Athlete.

What are some of your career goals?
I want to be an Athletic Director, being able to provide a great Student-Athlete experience for college athletes, the same way I had. If that doesn’t work out, I could always just work in the circus or an amusement park.
One interesting fact about yourself?
During the summer, I work in a high diving show in an amusement park in Lancaster, Pa. For the finale of the show, I dive from a 70-foot high ladder into a 9-foot deep pool. It is one of the coolest feelings ever. I get to dress up as a frog, a king, a court jester or an Evil Wizard and perform in front of thousands of children all summer long.
